These Boys Are Naughty, But Fun
Will Hay wrote and stars (Dr. Alec Smart) in this mildly entertaining piece of work - a lot of nonsense strung together by the thinnest of plots that let's Hay do what he did best - bumble and mumble about clumsily and occasionally smirk. Gordon Harker (Faker Brown) is always good and Norma Varden (Lady Dorking) was particularly good. The bulk of the story involves a diamond necklace stolen from Lady Dorking at its peregrination from pocket to pocket to decanter to pocket to rugby ball - and the attempts by the thief Faker Brown and his schoolboy son to finally lay their hands on it. A lot of energy spent shunting the necklace around, while giving Hay time to be both dense and clever. Not bad, not great - either you love Hay's shtick or it begins to wear thin after a while here - and after a few films overall.
